Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter filed suit two years ago alleging Purdue helped ignite the opioid crisis with aggressive marketing of the blockbuster drug OxyContin and deceptive claims that downplayed the dangers of addiction. The National Safety Council (NSC) has recently reported that the odds of accidental death from an opioid overdose have surpassed motor vehicle crashes as a leading cause of death. According to this grim report, the lifetime odds of dying from an accidental opioid overdose are one in 96.
