National Recovery Month 2019: The Power of a Strong Support System
National Recovery Month is celebrated every September. Now in its 30th year, this initiative boosts treatment awareness and celebrates the successes of those in recovery. This month is an opportunity to bring visibility to recovery, highlight the effective treatments available, display the strength of support communities, dismantle the stigma surrounding addiction, and bring a message of hope to those who need it the most.
But National Recovery Month isn’t just for those in recovery. It’s also a special time for anyone who’s been impacted by the disease of addiction and the power of a loved one’s recovery. And, of course, it’s an especially important month of recognition for those who work in the field of addiction treatment.
Together We Are Stronger
The 2019 National Recovery Month theme is “Join the Voices for Recovery: Together We Are Stronger.” It emphasizes the need to share resources and build networks that support recovery in all its forms. It reminds us that mental and substance use disorders impact all of us.
We’ve all been touched by the opioid epidemic in one way or another, but that means we all have an opportunity be a vital part of the solution. Working together makes us stronger.
Recovery looks different for everyone. There isn’t a singular formula or pathway for recovery success. What works for one person may not work for another – and that’s okay. Our goal at SaVida Health is to develop a treatment plan that’s tailored to each individual’s unique needs, and our team is committed to offering a constant source of support and encouragement.
Together we can support recovery for those who need it.
Together we can encourage our loved ones to reach out for help.
Together we can create a network of resources and solutions that are accessible for all.
Together we are stronger.
Support Makes a Difference
Millions of Americans are building a life in recovery. With your help, we can inspire a million more to begin their recovery journeys.
The SaVida Health team knows that recovery is possible – we see it in our patients every day. We know that a solid support system is essential for long-term recovery, and we take pride in supporting our patients every step of the way.
“This place is a great deal of help in my recovery,” said Dale, a patient at our SaVida Health West Springfield location.
We believe National Recovery Month is an opportunity to promote evidence-based treatment practices, build an even stronger recovery community, and highlight the dedication of addiction treatment professionals who make recovery possible in our communities.
“Here at SaVida, we are part of our patients’ journey to recovery. We’re here to celebrate their achievements, and we’re here to support them with their struggles,” said Maggie Pagan, Center Administrator at SaVida Health West Springfield. “We’re always here to root them on. It’s amazing how our patients become like family to us! This has been the most rewarding job I have ever had. It has humbled me immensely.”
“A strong support system during recovery helps to give our patients a sense of accountability; it also helps them avoid feelings of isolation,” said Lazarito Martinez, Outreach Coordinator at SaVida Health West Springfield. “A solid support system can also serve as a source for essential resources, advice, and more for continued sobriety.”
