On March 6th, the voices of families and loved ones will echo throughout the United States as we come
together to remember and celebrate the lives lost due to substance abuse. On this heartfelt occasion,
known as Black Balloon Day or Overdose Memorial Day, serves as a poignant reminder of the struggles
many face.

This day has its roots in a powerful movement that began in 2016. It was initiated by two remarkable
women, Diane and Lauren Hurley, who wanted to honor the memory of Greg Trembly. Greg, who was
both a son-in-law and brother-in-law to the Hurley family, battled opioid addiction and tragically lost his
life to an overdose on March 6, 2015.

In supporting this meaningful initiative, SaVida Health aims to raise awareness and foster community
healing through its sponsorship in Maine while providing resources for those currently facing addiction.
This year’s memorable event will feature live performances from artists such as Colicchie, who has
maintained his sobriety since June 7, 2015, and actively advocates for individuals in recovery. Alongside
him, talented artists like The Real Young Swagg, Benjamin Lerner, and Ryan Paige will also take the
stage.

This annual memorial is an important occasion for Mainers, providing a space to honor those lost to
overdose each March.
