Our Approach to Telemedicine
At SaVida Health, we believe telemedicine can be a helpful tool when it’s used for the right patients, at the right time. It’s not something we offer to everyone, and it’s never a replacement for the in-person care that’s central to recovery.
Instead, we reserve telemedicine appointments for patients who have shown consistency and stability in their treatment. This allows us to maintain the quality of care while offering a more flexible option for those who’ve earned it.
Who Is Eligible for Telemedicine?
Telemedicine is available to patients who meet specific clinical criteria. Generally, this means:
- You’ve been in treatment for a period of time
- You’ve shown progress in recovery and stability in behavior
- You’ve had regular appointments and followed your care plan
- You are not showing signs of active misuse or destabilization
Decisions around telemedicine are made by your care team, based on what will best support your recovery.
Why We Don’t Offer It to Everyone
For many people in early recovery, regular in-person appointments are essential. They allow for close monitoring, timely intervention, and stronger personal connection—all of which reduce the risk of relapse and misuse.
Our goal is to make sure every patient receives the level of support they need. For some, that means staying in the clinic for check-ins. For others, it may mean earning the flexibility to have some appointments virtually.
How We Maintain Safety and Accountability
To ensure telemedicine doesn’t compromise care, we’ve implemented safeguards. These include:
- Frequent assessments to ensure continued stability
- Random call-ins or in-person checks as needed
- Regular contact with care coordinators and counselors
- Clear expectations around medication management
Patients who participate in telemedicine are held to the same standards as those attending in person. We closely monitor progress and make adjustments as needed.
The Role of Telemedicine in Long-Term Recovery
For patients who are doing well in treatment, telemedicine can make it easier to stay consistent, especially for those balancing work, parenting, or transportation issues. It’s one way we help remove obstacles without lowering the standard of care.
That said, we always take a case-by-case approach. Every patient’s path is different, and our job is to support that path in the most effective way possible.
